Hopetoun Streetscape Enhancement Report

Hopetoun is a fascinating little town that is inhabited by a resilient and friendly community. However in recent years the town has struggled as economic forces and emerging challenges have made many previously vibrant businesses and whole industries increasingly marginal. As part of a range of measures that have sought to demonstrate a commitment to the town, enhance its liveability and capture the tourist dollar Yarriambiack Shire Council, Gateway BEET Hopetoun and Lake Lascelles/CorrongCommittee of Management have commissioned a study to consider streetscape improvements to Austin Street. This report presents the findings of this study.

The ideas presented herein span the public and private realms and are presented not just to put forward a vision of the physical qualities the area may embody but also to consider the social outcomes these changes make possible. The intention of these ideas is to realise the communities aspirations and address the communities concerns as shared with Jenny Donovan of Inclusive Design in Hopetoun on the 19th April 2017 and amended in response to feedback in late May 2017.
