Young People in the Yarriambiack Shire are mobilising to make things happen!
2019 is looking busy for the Yarriambiack Youth Action Council. They have new members joining throughout the year via the application and interview process. They help organise fun and enjoyable events as well as recognise the amazing work of our Youth, something that can go unnoticed when the odd bad story might crop up. These young people are all about making positive news and about making the Yarriambiack Shire a great place to be a young person.
Two outstanding young people Maddy Cashill from Hopetoun and Shawn Pendlebury from Warracknabeal are event managing the first of our major events for 2019.
This year “Endoreic” our Short Film Festival that is in its 4th year, is on Thursday the 4th of April, alongside the Yarriambiack Young Achiever Awards (YYAA). The awards will be presented from 7:00pm and Endoreic (the Short Film Festival) will start from 7:30pm. The winning 7 films are decided by public vote. It’s a free event and a lot of fun to watch and see if your selections are the same as other peoples. The films are put together by young people aged 12-25 with the assistance of a young film maker Hannah French.
It would be lovely to have as many people come and support this evening as so much time and teamwork goes into them.
The Hopetoun P-12 College SRC is running the ‘Colour Rally in the Mallee’, a colour run around Lake Lascelles which will be accompanied by Disco Music. Which is on prior to the YYAA & the Short Film Festival.
