Freedom of Information (FOI)

The Victorian Freedom of Information Act 1982 gives the general right to access information held by State and Local Government agencies.

Your request must be in writing, clearly and accurately describe the documents you are seeking to access, be for specific documents or a group of documents.

The charges are levied under the Freedom of Information (Access charges) Regulations 2014.

Accessed documents may be written, printed, electronic, maps, photographs and audio recordings. Not all documents are automatically available, and some exemptions apply. Other documents which can be requested outside the Act include those containing public information, included in a public register and information available for purchase.
