Yarriambiack Finalists in LGPro Awards

YARRIAMBIACK A FINALIST IN LGPRO EXCELLENCE AWARDS
Yarriambiack Shire Council has been recognised in the LGPro Excellence Awards as finalists in two categories. The LGPro Awards for Excellence promote and celebrate the outstanding work being undertaken and delivered by individuals and teams working in Local Government in Victoria.
The Hopetoun Powerhouse Project has been nominated as a finalist in the Outstanding Small Rural Council Initiative category for the LGPro Excellence Awards. Located in the heart of Victoria's Silo Art Trail, Hopetoun's Powerhouse Arts Studio offers a unique studio and exhibition space combined with modern accommodation. Originally opened in 1913 as Hopetoun’s power supply, the Powerhouse’s new life as an art studio provides artists with a versatile space in a rural setting. In addition to artists in residence, the studio space has been used for community art classes and events since its opening in April 2022. The Powerhouse is managed by local community organisations Gateway BEET and Hopetoun Progress Association, with profits earned from the accommodation returned to community-based projects.
The second finalist in the LGPro Awards for Excellence in Council’s Project Coordinator Rebecca Botheras, who was been nominated for the Young Achiever’s category. Rebecca is responsible for the oversight and leadership of major infrastructure projects across the Shire.
Rebecca has played a pivotal role in the planning and delivery of the Modular changerooms at Beulah Recreation Reserve, the netball and tennis court redevelopment at Brim, the netball and tennis courts and modular changerooms at Rupanyup and master planning projects at ANZAC Park Warracknabeal and Murtoa Recreation Reserve.
Rebecca’s work has been recognised with Council receiving the Tennis Victoria ‘Supporting Tennis – Local Government Award’ in 2021. Winners of the Awards will be announced on at the Awards Ceremony in Melbourne on Thursday 25 May 2023.
