West Vic Business’ 2024 Town Strategy Program, commencing in February

Yarriambiack Shire Council is still taking registrations for West Vic Business’ 2024 Town Strategy Program, commencing in February.

The program, which is fully subsidised through West Vic Business's successful FRRR Drought Preparedness grant, will be free to all participants.  The program will encourage all to work collaboratively together and key stakeholders, to build an effective strategic plan to help build their town.  The focus and concept of this program is that a town or city is a business in its own right, and strategic planning could and should be applied in the same manner.  George Laicos and his team at Spark Strategy will facilitate the program, which will be delivered via zoom to accommodate the geographical spread of the cohort, however there will be one in-person gathering mid-year for project updates, and to celebrate progress. 

West Vic Business are committed to bringing community and councils together to build effective and cohesive relationships, and this program has been developed to help build the foundations for such.  The Town Strategy Program follows on from the incredibly successful Town Strategy Masterclass that was held in early 2023, and will be a great opportunity for the following groups:

  • Community groups.
  • Action groups.
  • Progress associations.
  • Business groups.

Phase 1: Groundwork.  Online sessions – 1hr duration (email invite link from Spark Strategy).

  • Monday, 4th March:  Introduction to Community Growth Theory.
  • Thursday, 28th March:  Know Yourself: Encouraging Self-awareness.
  • Monday, 22nd April:  Delving into the Value Proposition of Our Community.
  • Monday, 27th May:  Reflection: What do we need to become to survive and grow?

Phase 2: Immersion & Collaboration.  In-person half-day session – 4hrs (Horsham region)

  • Monday, 17th June:  Recognise and leverage the inherent value within the community.

Phase 3: Reflection & Integration. Online sessions – 1hr duration (email invite from Spark Strategy).

  • Monday, 22nd July:  Integration: How Do We Bring This Together?
  • Thursday, 29th August:  Progress Check: What Are We Achieving?
  • Thursday 10th October:  Facing Challenges: Addressing Struggles and Barriers.
  • Monday, 28th October:  Reflection & Forward Planning: Evaluating what’s helping and hindering our progress.
