Join the Yarriambiack Tourism Advisory Committee

Yarriambiack Shire Council is looking for business and community members to join the Yarriambiack Tourism Advisory Committee for a term of 3 years.

The role of an Advisory Committee is to report to Council and provide appropriate advice and recommendations on matters relevant to its ToR in order to facilitate decision making by Council in relation to the discharge of its responsibilities. An Advisory Committee can offer specialised advice and assistance with research on issues of interest to Council and the Community.

Yarriambiack Shire Council Chief Executive Officer Tammy Smith said, “The revamp of the Yarriambiack Tourism Advisory Committee will provide strategic insight with regard to the improvement of Council’s tourism and economic development projects, liaising with community groups and businesses to identify initiatives to enhance the Yarriambiack visitor experience.  The committee will consist of up to sixteen members including an elected Councillor, CEO and an appointed Council Officer, along with representatives from each town within the Shire. The committee will meet four times per year”.

Memberships should aim to be equitable in gender, diversity and include local indigenous representation wherever possible. Council encourages members from all towns across the municipality to apply.

“The Yarriambiack Tourism Advisory Committee is a vital link connecting local businesses and community organisations with Council and the wider tourism network of the Wimmera region. The Advisory Committee will advise Council of necessary improvements to support economic development and tourism, provide feedback and comments on matters referred by Council or other matters brought to the Committee’s attention”, Ms Smith said.

Yarriambiack Shire Council strives to have representatives from all towns throughout the Shire on the committee. With meetings occurring quarterly, our current members represent Murtoa, Minyip, Rupanyup, Warracknabeal, Beulah, Hopetoun, and Woomelang, there are still spaces available for members of towns not yet represented by the committee to join the remainder of the 3-year term (finishing June 2025).
