Engage 2025-27 Funding Success

Yarriambiack Shire Council will receive a grant of $150,000 through the Engage! 2025-27 program to deliver the Building Youth Leadership for Yarriambiack Shire's Future project. The project will be delivered over three years.

Chief Executive Officer, Tammy Smith confirmed that, “The Building Youth Leadership program will be delivered by the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation (WBCF) in partnership with Yarriambiack Shire Council and our Shires three secondary colleges”.

“The program aims to empower young people aged 12-18 through leadership training, mentorship, and community projects. Leveraging WBCF’s reputation and appeal, particularly through football, the program effectively engages youth, providing a dynamic experience that traditional council programs have struggled to achieve”, stated Mrs Smith.

Mrs Smith continued that, “The project’s objectives include building leadership skills by offering workshops decided by youth and may include public speaking, teamwork, and project management, tailored to equip participants with practical skills for future roles in their communities and careers”.

In 2024, Council collaborated with the WBCF to implement youth leadership programs throughout the Shire. These programs were executed successfully, and the additional funding will further enhance the achievements of this initiative.
