Rupanyup Silo Art

Artist Jullia Volchkova completed the first artwork displayed on Australia Grain Export silos in April 2017.  The work accurately captured the role of community sport in rural youth culture.

The monochromatic mural depicts two local Rupanyup residents and local sporting team members, Ebony Baker and Jordan Weidemann.  Both dressed in their sporting attire (netball and Australian Rules football), they embody the youthful spirit of strength, hope and camaraderie.

The original artwork faded after years of exposure to the elements and so artist SMUG of Juddy Roller commenced a new artwork in March 2025.

The new artwork depicts the surrounding farmland landscape in vibrant harvest-time colours, featuring elements of agriculture, local bird-life and the future represented by a child of the next generation.

The Silo Art Trail is Australia's largest outdoor gallery.  The Silo Art Trail is a partnership between Yarriambiack, Hindmarsh, Buloke, West Wimmera and Horsham Councils, in collaboration with international street art agency Juddy Roller, Victorian Government and Federal Government.  The silos have been donated as canvasses for the artist's work by GrainCorp and various private owners.
