GrainCorp Sheep Hills Silo Art
Artist Adnate completed the GrainCorp Sheel Hills Silo Art in December 2016. Adnate found inspiration for the mural while they developed a friendship with the Barengi Gadjin Land Council in north-west Victoria.
The artwork celebrates the richness of the area's Indigenous culture, depicting Wergaia Elder - Uncle Ron Marks, Wotjobaluk Elder - Aunty Regina Hood, alongside young children Savannah Marks and Curtly McDonald.
The night sky represents elements of local dreaming and signifies the important exchange of wisdom, knowledge and customs from the Elders to the next generation.
The Silo Art Trail is Australia’s largest outdoor gallery. The Silo Art Trail is a partnership between Yarriambiack, Hindmarsh, Buloke, West Wimmera and Horsham Councils, in collaboration with international street art agency Juddy Roller, Victorian Government and Federal Government. The silos have been donated as canvasses for the artist’s work by GrainCorp and various private owners.
